香港中文大學校友會聯會陳震夏幼稚園

香港中文大學校友會聯會陳震夏幼稚園於2004年在天水圍創辦,著重培育幼兒的品德及潛能,以「尊重每一位孩子、發掘他們的潛能、發展他們的能力」為目標。

CUHK FAA Chan Chun Ha Kindergarten was established in Tin Shui Wai in 2004. It has been focused on nurturing each child’s moral education and potential with the goal of “respecting each child, exploring their potential and developing their abilities”.

 

繪本故事課程

  在繪本故事課程方面,本校以故事為本引入課程。本校早於2008年參加語常會的教師培訓,是天水圍第一間參加語常會的學校,從而提升老師帶領繪本教學的技巧。而老師在教學中透過繪本故事及多元化的活動,如:角色扮演、討論、創作結局及紀錄等,為幼兒提供聽、講、讀、寫的機會,從而豐富活動中的語文元素,藉此提升幼兒的語文能力。此外,老師透過繪本故事內容情節延伸至幼兒的生活經驗,並配合幼兒的興趣設計綜合活動,如:小手工、遊戲等,從而為幼兒提升閱讀故事的趣味性。有見及此,本校於2015年由教材套轉用中英文互相配合的繪本書,透過繪本故事進行討論及故事創作,提供空間給幼兒思考及幻想。此,在課堂期間,本校亦邀請了不同的機構在校內舉行「故事劇場」,以互動劇場形式表演繪本故事,讓幼兒帶着好奇,融入繪本故事情境,並透過有意義的提問和引導,培養孩子邏輯思考、預測及推理能力,藉此提升幼兒的創意發展及學習的興趣。

持續推廣及優化閱讀計劃

  本校早於2006年已在校內開展閱讀計劃,當時本校與同區小學合辦舉行「小荳芽閱讀計劃以推廣閱讀文化、鼓勵親子閱讀、培養幼兒的閱讀興趣和習慣為計劃目標。在舉行「小荳芽閱讀計劃」後及幼反應良好,於是在2007年正式在校推行校本「親子閱讀獎勵計劃」,於每週讓幼借閱一本自喜愛的圖書回家閱讀,以在家延續閱讀的習慣。而幼兒現時每年的閱讀量更不少於100本圖書,從而培養幼兒的閱讀習慣。

  為了支援家長與幼兒在家進行親子閱讀,本校於2010舉辦「齊來說故事」的活動,由駐校社工在活動中培訓及支家長與幼兒在家中閱讀及說故事的技巧。而在2011年,學校更鼓勵家長學習相關技巧後,邀請他們擔任「故事爸媽」在校內與其他幼兒分享故事進行回饋,由家長學習如何帶動閱讀氣氛,此活動更一直延續至今天的「爸媽陪我讀圖書義工小組此外,為了讓幼兒能分享他們喜愛的圖書,學校舉行「故事伴我飛‧親子說故事比賽」,讓幼兒選擇自己喜愛的圖書,與家長以角色扮演的方式演繹故事。而在2021年,學校更讓親子參與「禮行天下」校際短片創作比賽,讓幼兒透過以多元方式創作故事,從而認識及宣揚中華禮義的核心精神,藉此引起幼兒的閱讀興趣、推動其閱

  除此之外,在2018年期間,本校參加了「夢想閱讀計劃」,透過個性化的圖書,讓幼兒成為圖書的主角,再加入校本元素,期望透過有趣的圖書,能為幼兒增強代入感,讓幼兒更喜愛閱讀。而在同一年期間,學校亦舉辦了「爸媽伴讀」的活動,由老師作說故事的示範,繼而讓家長學習說故事的技巧以及在校內提供實踐機會,從而進一步帶動家長與幼兒閱讀的氣氛。

時至今天,除了校本的「親子閱讀獎勵計劃」外,本校亦參加了政的「贈書計以優化圖書的質素,提更多優質的閱給幼。在節日期間,學校更會送贈圖書給予幼兒在家中閱讀,並提供線上工作坊讓家長能學習親子伴讀的技巧,以延續幼兒的閱讀習慣,提升他們對閱讀的主動性。

發展校本藝術教育

  校本藝術教育方面,本校亦在各方面支持幼兒的藝術發展。在2007年期間,本校成立了步操鼓樂隊,在鼓樂隊中讓幼兒學習節奏感、旋律。本校更連續7年參與香港步操樂團公開賽幼稚園組比賽,並連續6年獲得幼稚園組金獎。此外,在2011年期間,學校亦陸續增設有關音體的興趣小組,如:口風琴、小提琴及舞蹈等,以在低班及高班的級別推行「一生一體藝」,讓所有幼兒均有選擇參與的機會,並在比賽及各項活動展現學習成果和自信,從而提升他們的自信心及滿足感。

  除此之外,本校早於2018年計劃將陶瓷藝術引入校內,並透過線上、線下的形式推廣陶藝,讓家長與幼兒在家中亦能體驗藝術相關的活動,希望幼兒藉著陶藝認識中國歷史和文化,並運用五感探索陶泥的可塑性。本校亦有足夠的配套設備及資助(如:「優質教育基金」及「小手作資源套計劃」)以助在校內推行陶藝活動。而且,在2021年期間,本校更成為首所在元朗劇院中舉行「陶樂.童樂」作品展覽的幼稚園,期望能透過展覽拓展幼兒的藝術視野,促進共融及互相欣賞文化。而在同年期間,本校亦參與了由香港幼兒藝術文化交流協會舉辦的「尋寶陶」親子陶藝創作比賽,更有幸地在6000多份作品中獲得高級組季軍,展現出家長與幼兒共同用心地體驗藝術樂趣的成果。

傳承

  「人情永存在」是本校的傳承,在這短短三年校園生活中,幼兒們一同學習、一同遊戲、快樂地成長。在這所校園裡刻印著各種回憶,同時締造了難忘的童年。畢業並不是一個結束,而是一個新開始,本校期望能將一點「情」伴隨著各個畢業生及家長的成長。在每年9月的第一個星期六上午10:00,陳幼大門一定打開,以讓各屆畢業生及家長聚首一堂,分享不同時期的點滴、珍貴片段及表揚學生在各個階段的成就與進步。在2020-2021期間,本校第三屆校友梁振嶸同學完成兒時的理想入讀香港中文大學逸夫書院,並獲本園校董會頒發獎學金以鼓勵陳幼畢業生升讀中文大學的傳承,以「博文約禮」之精神繼續延續下去。

 

Picture Book Teaching

   With the Picture Book Teaching, the school can utilize stories to introduce the course. Furthermore, our school has participated in teacher training of SCOLAR since as early as 2008 and was the first school to initiate SCOLAR training in order to enhance our teachers’ skills in leading picture book teaching. Teachers are able to increase the elements of language in teaching and thus the language abilities of our students through stories and a variety of activities such as role-playing, discussions, creating alternative endings and recordings. This wealth of activities provides students with many opportunities to practice listening, speaking, reading and writing. Additionally, teachers relate the story book content to our students’ everyday lives and match it to their interests. Teachers also create various activities to increase our students’ interest in reading such as arts and crafts and games. In 2015, our school switched from textbooks to Chinese and English storybooks. Through story discussions and the creation of stories, students are able to think and imagine. Furthermore, the school invites different organizations to come and perform the story books during interactive “Story Theatre” so that children can be curious and become involved in the story scenarios. With guided questions, we can cultivate students’ logical thinking, prediction and reasoning abilities and thereby enhance their creative development and interest in learning.

 

Continued Promotion and Enhancement of Reading Plan

  Our school has implemented reading plans since 2006. At the time, we partnered with nearby primary schools in the district to carry out the “Little Sprouts Reading Scheme” with the aims to promote reading culture, encourage parent-child reading, and to cultivate children’s interest in reading and reading habits. The response from parents and students to the “Little Sprouts Reading Scheme” was positive. Therefore, in 2007, our school officially implemented our “Parent-Child Reading Award Scheme”. Under this new scheme, students borrow a book of their own choice and take it home each week. Over the course of a year, children will read at least 100 books in order to cultivate children’s reading habit.
  In order to help support parents and children with parent-child reading at home, our school organized a “Let’s Read Stories Together” event in 2010. During the event, our school social worker trained and supported parents and children by teaching them skills to read stories at home together. Also, in 2011, in order to further encourage parents to learn these skills, the school arranged for “Story Parents” to come to the school and read to the students and receive feedback. Parents have learned how to create a fun reading atmosphere through this experience. This event has continued in our “Mom and Dad Read With Me Volunteer Group” Additionally, in order for our students to share their favourite stories, the school organized a “Stories Fly With Me‧Parent-Child Reading Competition”, allowing them to choose their favourite book and role-play with their parents to interpret stories. In 2021, the school participated in the “Etiquette Prevails in the World” inter-school short film story competition, allowing children to creative stories through multimedia to understand and promote Chinese etiquette while simultaneously piquing children’s interest in reading and promoting reading atmospheres.
  Additionally, our school participated in the “Dream Reading Scheme” in 2018 to allow our students to be the main character in personalized books with school elements and hopefully, with the interesting stories, allow students to experience more empathy love for reading. In the same year, the school also organized a “Parent Reading” event in which teachers provided demonstrations for story reading to help parents learn storytelling skills and provide opportunities for practice at school, thereby further encouraging an atmosphere for parents and children to read.
Currently, in addition to the “Parent-Child Reading Award Scheme”, the school is also participating in the government’s “Gift Book Scheme” to optimize the quality of books and provide more high-quality reading resources for our students. During this event, the school will provide students with books to read at home and host online workshops for parents to learn parent-child storytelling skills to help the children cultivate reading habits and increase their motivation to read.

 

Development of the School’s Arts Education
  In terms of school-based arts education, our school is in full support of arts development in our students. In 2007, our school formed a marching drum band in which our students are able to learn about rhythm and melodies. For 7 consecutive years, our school has participated in the Hong Kong Marching Band Competition and have won gold in the Kindergarten group for 6 consecutive years. Additionally, in 2011, successfully organized extra-curricular music activities such as melodica, violin, dance and more for our K2 and K3 classes to promote “One Life, One Sport and Art” to allow our children chances to choose to participate and to demonstrate their learning outcomes and self-confidence through competitions and activities and thus increase their self-confidence and satisfaction.
  Since 2018, the school has planned to introduce the ceramic arts to the school through both online and offline methods so parents and their children can experience art-related activities at home in hopes of encouraging them to recognise Chinese history and culture as well as to use their five senses to experience the plasticity of clay. The school has now has sufficient materials and support (e.g. from “Quality Education Fund” and “Crafts Resources Scheme”) to help the school implement the ceramic arts initiative. In 2021, our school was the first kindergarten to hold an exhibition of our students’ artwork at “Ceramic and Children Fun” in the Yuen Long Theatre. We hoped to broaden our students’ artistic horizons and encourage harmonious love of culture through the exhibition. In that same year, our school participated in the “ Treasure Hunt” parent-child ceramics art competition hosted by the Hong Kong Children’s Art and Cultural Exchange Association. We were fortunate enough to win the second runner-up in the older students category amongst over 6000 other art pieces, thus demonstrating how our parents and students can share a fun artistic experience together with hard work.

 

Legacy
“Bonds are everlasting” is a part of our school’s legacy. In the short three years of kindergarten school life, our children learn together, play together, happily grow and make numerous memories throughout the campus to create an unforgettable childhood. Graduation is not an end, but rather, a new beginning. Our school hopes to accompany our graduates and parents as they develop with a little “love” and therefore, each year, on the first Saturday of September, 10 o’clock in the morning, our school will be opened to gather all graduates and parents, reminisce about various aspects of their different time and precious video clips, and highlight their achievements and progress. Between 2020 and 2021, our 3rd generation alumnus Leung Chung Wing was fortunate enough to achieve his childhood ideal, which is accepted to The Chinese University of Hong Kong Shaw College. He was also awarded a scholarship by our school board to encourage the continuance of our school spirit of “bonds” and “through learning and temperance to virtue”.
